Parkston FFA is well represented at the NATIONAL level this week!! We are SO PROUD of their accomplishments and we know they will represent our chapter, school, and community very well.
As the South Dakota state winner, Grace Lindeman will be competing in the Employability Skills contest. Earlier this fall she submitted a resume, job application, cover letter, thank you letter, and completed a virtual interview. On Wednesday she will complete an in-person interview and thank you letter and we will find out if she advances to the next round of competition.
Earlier this summer Emily Walz submitted her state winning Nursery Operations Proficiency to compete at Nationals where she earned a Bronze rating. The Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through their supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs), have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers. Congratulations!
Kacy Goehring and Ashlyn Tapio have earned their American Degree! The American degree is the highest degree an FFA member can receive in the National FFA Organization. Only FFA members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA and made significant accomplishments in their supervised agricultural experiences are eligible for the American FFA Degree. Members must have earned and productively invested at least $7,500, or have earned and productively invested at least $1,500 and worked 2,250 outside of school hours through their SAEs. This degree is awarded to less than 1% of all FFA members!

Junior Parent meeting today at 4 in the commons.
Parkston HOSA was personally invited to spend the morning at DWU for a Health Professions Day. The Chamberlain Chapter was also in attendance. Members got to practice injecting insulin into an orange with the aide of a junior or senior year nursing student and then they got to chat with them about their schooling and clinical experiences. They also got to hear from a panel of pre-professional health science majors, athletic training students, and professors of nursing, chemistry, and athletic training. They finished the morning with a campus tour and lunch, courtesy of DWU. It was a great experience to get on campus, experience one-on-one interactions, and learn more about opportunities that are just down the road. Thank you, DWU!
