Art Wars: Where Creativity Meets Competition!
Today, nine talented students from Parkston represented our school at Art Wars, a state-sanctioned event that challenges young artists to think fast, create boldly, and showcase their skills under pressure.
With over 300 students competing at our regional event, each artist selected two mediums and had just 90 minutes to bring a concept to life—turning a week’s worth of artistic exploration into a stunning final piece.
Our Parkston artists rose to the challenge, demonstrating incredible creativity, passion, and talent. Their innovative ideas and artistic execution were nothing short of inspiring.
This event is a testament to the power of the arts in education—fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-expression in ways no other subject can.
Art is not just an elective. It’s a force. It’s a future. It’s a necessity.
We are so proud of our students and can’t wait to see what they create next year! See you in 2026, Art Wars!
*thanks Mrs. Kafka for making our new bags look professional! it was a very nice upgrade!

Parkston-Ethan Track and XC participants and parents. Not quite a year ago, there was a conversation about a possible dissolution of the Track and XC cooperative between the two schools. Due to the timing of the question and the lack of opportunity for students and parents to weigh in on the matter appropriately, the cooperative would and is remaining in place for the 24-25 School year. However, the Parkston school board and administration also discussed continuing to vet the dissolution concept for the near and foreseeable future with all stakeholders from both districts. This is the reason for the survey. It is anonymous and the survey is the same for both students and parents of each district. We are asking all with an interest in the program to participate in the survey. The survey will remain open until the end of February with the results being shared with school boards at the March school board meetings. We thank you for your time and participation.
